Adobe has announced key pricing and licensing updates for its Higher Education customers, effective January 1, 2026.
The changes are designed to increase flexibility, scalability, and value for academic institutions, while ensuring continued investment in AI-driven tools and lab-ready environments.

New Pricing Structure Overview

Starting from January 2026, Adobe will introduce several updates across its Higher Education offerings under the Creative Cloud Pro Plus and Shared Device License (SDL) programs.
These changes include new student pricing tiers, reinstated volume discount eligibility, and pricing adjustments for faculty, staff, and shared environments.

Key Updates Effective 2026

Adobe has announced four major updates to its Higher Education licensing and pricing framework, effective from January 6, 2026.

Adobe is launching new high-volume tiers for the Creative Cloud Pro Plus – Student plan, specifically at the 250-seat and 500+ seat levels.

These new tiers enable universities and colleges with larger student populations to:

    • Access better pricing through volume-based discounts
    • Scale license management more efficiently across departments and faculties

This initiative helps institutions expand creative access while maintaining budget flexibility.

Eligibility for what was formerly known as “VIP Select” now referred to as “Volume Discounting” in the Adobe VIP Marketplace has been officially reinstated for the Creative Cloud Pro Plus – Student offer.

This correction reverses a prior update that had inadvertently removed this eligibility and is now reflected in the October 2025 price list.
Institutions purchasing in large volumes will once again benefit from structured pricing incentives through the Adobe VIP Marketplace program.

Adobe is reducing prices for the following Higher Education plans:

    • Creative Cloud Pro Plus – HED Faculty/Staff
    • Creative Cloud for Enterprise All Apps – HED Faculty/Staff

This pricing adjustment lowers costs for educators and staff, making it more affordable for academic institutions to provide faculty with full access to Adobe’s complete suite of professional creative tools. By reducing license costs, Adobe enables schools and universities to maintain consistent software environments that enhance both teaching and learning experiences. This change supports institutions in offering high-quality creative education while managing budgets more efficiently.

The Shared Device License (SDL) continues to serve as an essential solution for flexible, multi-user lab environments, giving students and faculty broad access to Adobe’s flagship applications. Beginning in 2026, pricing for the SDL will increase to reflect Adobe’s continued investment in improving lab-ready deployment, enhancing multi-user compatibility, and strengthening performance and security across devices. This adjustment aims to deliver a more stable, secure, and seamless experience for students and educators using shared computer lab setups, ensuring the platform remains reliable and future-ready.

Terms and Conditions

    • All pricing changes take effect from the First Order Date (FOD) and are not retroactive.
    • The new high-volume tiers apply only to Creative Cloud Pro Plus – Student for Higher Education purchases at the 250 and 500+ seat levels.
    • Eligibility for discount levels and volume discounting is governed by the Adobe VIP Marketplace Program Rules.
This includes what was formerly known as “VIP Select”, which has now been renamed “Volume Discounting” within Marketplace.

Institutions should consult the December 2025 price list for the detailed pricing breakdowns applicable from the First Order Date in early 2026.

The Impact on Higher Education Institutions

Adobe’s 2026 update demonstrates a clear focus on balancing affordability, scalability, and innovation.
Educational institutions will benefit from new cost-effective student tiers, lower faculty pricing, and streamlined volume discounting while also needing to account for higher SDL costs in shared lab budgets.

The changes underscore Adobe’s commitment to empowering creative education with modern, AI-driven technology and flexible deployment models tailored to both individual and institutional needs.
