Effective April 10, 2025, VMware will implement significant changes to its licensing policies. A key update is the requirement for a minimum 72-core order quantity for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) purchases. Additionally, VMware will discontinue the sale of vSphere Standard.
VMware will discontinue the sale of vSphere Standard
vSphere Standard subscription will no longer be available for purchase after April 10, 2025, in Asia-Pacific and Japan. Customers will be required to upgrade to vSphere Foundation.
72-Core MOQ Requirement for VMware Cloud Foundation
From the enforcement date, all orders related to VMware Cloud Foundation products must meet a minimum purchase of 72 cores per purchase order. The affected products include:
- VMware Private AI Foundation with NVIDIA and SQL Support
- VMware vDefend Advanced Threat Prevention Add-on (Bundle)
- VMware vDefend Firewall (Bundle)
- VMware vDefend Firewall with Advanced Threat Prevention (Bundle)
- VMware Cloud Foundation 5
- VMware vSphere Foundation 1-Year
- VMware vSphere Foundation 8 Multiyear
- VMware vSphere Standard 8
